Appearance
Patient
Everything recorded against one patient lives under Patient in the main menu. The screens are:
| Screen | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Patient Info | Who the patient is — demographics, employer, attorney, scanned documents |
| Policies | Insurance coverage, subscriber details, and CMS-1500 claim settings |
| Transactions | Charges and payments for a visit |
| Ledger | The account history — every charge, payment and adjustment |
| Post Insurance | Applying insurance payments against claims |
| Document | Letters, forms and documents produced for the patient |
| Reminder | Pop-up messages and follow-up reminders |
A patient has to be open first
These screens all act on the currently open patient. If you pick one from the menu with no patient open, ChiroPad tells you to open a patient first.

Open a patient from the Front Desk — see Finding and opening patients.
Once a patient is open, their details fill the header bar at the top of the screen and stay there as you move between screens, so you always know whose record you are editing.
How the screens open
Each screen opens as its own tab across the top, next to Front Desk. Switch between them by clicking the tabs — your place on each is kept.
Switching patients closes the tabs
Opening a different patient closes the tabs you have open for the current one. ChiroPad warns you first:
All open tabs will be closed. Unsaved changes will be lost.
Choose Cancel if you still have unsaved work, save it, then switch.
Where the money screens fit together
The four financial screens do related but distinct jobs, and it is worth being clear on which one you want:
| Use | Screen |
|---|---|
| Record today's charges and take a payment | Transactions |
| Look at account history, or print a statement | Ledger |
| Apply a payment that came from an insurance carrier | Post Insurance |
| Set up what a carrier covers, and how claims are built | Policies |
The usual daily flow is Policies once (when the patient's coverage is set up), then Transactions at each visit, with Post Insurance when carrier payments arrive and Ledger whenever you need to see the whole picture.
